This year has been a year of growth for many Michigan State Spartans alums. Obviously, there's been the outstanding play of Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh's all-purpose back. There's been the noteoworthy play of Drew Stanton leading the Cardinals to a quite-strong record. There's been Brian Hoyer holding onto the starting job in Cleveland for longer than anyone expected.

And now, Connor Shaw?
With Hoyer looking iffy himself for a meaningless Week 17 game, and Johnny Manziel out for the season, the Browns were so desperate as to turn to Rex Grossman, who even turned them down, citing family vacation. Shaw's the incumbent on the practice squad, so he clearly has the advantage over newly-signed Tyler Thigpen. However, he'll be facing a hungry Ravens defense, so he may not have a great chance to show his stuff. Let's hope that if you are in a fantasy league championship for this upcoming week, you won't need to turn to Shaw.
